Hurricane and Tropical Storm Preparedness
Course Outline
Course description:
Hurricanes produce many destructive hazards, such as heavy rains, storm surge, destructive winds and tornadoes. Although they can be dangerous killers, planning ahead and being prepared can reduce the chances of injury and major property damage.
Putting off preparation for a major storm may be easy: the thought of these storms is disturbing. Yet the chance of one’s entire world being turned upside down by disaster is a very real threat. By eliminating as many unknown variables as possible, communities and organisations may be able to reduce panic, injury, and damage, and cope with the aftermath of a natural disaster much better.
This course is designed for individuals, communities and organisations that face frequent tropical storms and hurricanes. It will provide a step-by-step guide to ensure your family and colleagues are prepared before the hurricane, during the event, and during the recovery stages of a hurricane or tropical storm.
