Dangerous Goods CAT 10

Course Outline

Dangerous goods are articles or substances, which can pose a risk to health, safety, property, or the environment when transported by air, and which are classified according to Section 3 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

These characteristics will make their transport by air hazardous unless suitable precautions are taken. The commodities include the goods that are obvious substances such as acids, radioactive materials, poisons and explosives, but also some unlikely items such as magnets, wheelchairs with batteries, bleaches, breathing apparatus, some pesticides, etc.

This Category 10 course will raise the awareness of the threat of Dangerous Goods to aviation operations and is designed primarily for flight crew. Operations officers, flight dispatchers, load masters and load planners fall under the same category (Table 1.5.A DGR).
