Human Factor O&G 05: Decision Making and Dynamic Risk Assessment in High Risk Environments
Course Outline
Course description:
Most of our waking hours are spent making decision on what to say, where to look, where to walk, what to focus on etc. Sometimes our choices are correct and other times not. Despite rigorous operating procedures, workers in high risk environments are from time to time, required to make decisions based on dynamic situations. To do this, they subconsciously assess the risks involved in various options. This assessment of risk in dynamic situations is often based on experiences, time pressures, peer pressure, and the like.
The course explain the components of effective decision-making, and how to assess the risk involved in each of the options. Through the use of a DMM (Decision-Making model, it encourages individuals to consider all options and not only the first thing that comes to mind.
