Occupational Health – Asbestos Awareness
Course Outline
Course description:
Asbestos is a Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP). When asbestos fibres are breathed in, they get trapped in the lungs and remain there for a long time. Over time, these fibres can accumulate and cause scarring and inflammation, which can affect breathing and lead to serious health problems.
This course provides employees and organisations with an understanding of the hazards and health implications of asbestos in the workplace, types of asbestos, workplaces that commonly work with asbestos, and asbestos control strategies and testing steps.
